Egypt rolls out eight logistics corridors to boost network

Egypt has launched eight international logistics corridors aimed at improving cargo connectivity between Europe, the Gulf, and Africa. The corridors will link ports, dry ports, industrial zones, and production centres to support smoother cargo movement and strengthen regional supply chains.

The eight corridors include Arish/Taba, Sokhna/Alexandria, Safaga/Qena/Abu Tartour, Cairo/Alexandria, Tanta/Mansoura/Damietta, Gargoub/Sallum, Cairo/Aswan/Abu Simbel, and Bernice/Aswan/East Oweinat/Kufra/N’Djamena. The routes are designed to improve links between Egypt’s Red Sea and Mediterranean gateways and inland economic areas.

The development comes as Egypt activates the UN TIR road transport system, which is expected to reduce road transport costs by up to 40% and cut border transit times by up to 80%. The system will allow cargo to move across borders with simplified customs procedures, helping reduce delays for transport operators.

Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Egypt said Egypt is shifting from building isolated roads and railways to creating integrated developmental logistics corridors linking the Red and Mediterranean seas and the Suez Canal to dry ports, industrial, agricultural, and mining zones.

The new network is expected to support exporters, manufacturers, and logistics providers by improving cargo flow and creating stronger trade links between Europe, the Gulf, and Africa.
