Cargo rates surge 12% YoY in August-end: WorldACD



The global air cargo demand and pricing have remained strong throughout August 2024 with 10 per cent year-on-year growth in tonnages and 12 per cent growth in rates in comparison to the August 2023. Rates for Middle East & South Asia region grew by 3 per cent, reaching an average US$2.81 per kg. According to the official release from WorldACD, “August’s YoY comparison figures were like those in July 2024 when chargeable weight grew by 13 per cent and rates showed a 10 per cent improvement. Compared with July, total flown chargeable weight dipped slightly in August, down two percent, but average yields edged up by a one per cent to US$2.49 per kg, based on a full-market average of spot rates and contract rates.”
