Bahrain International Airport handled a record 405,217 tonnes of air cargo in 2025, up 3.2% from the previous year, marking its strongest cargo performance to date, according to Bahrain Airport Company (BAC). The growth highlights the airport’s expanding role in regional logistics and global supply chains.
BAC said the increase was driven by higher load factors and more efficient use of runway capacity, rather than a significant rise in aircraft movements. This points to improved operational efficiency across cargo handling and freight operations at the airport.
The airport continues to benefit from steady demand for air freight, supporting Bahrain’s position as a key trade and logistics hub in the Gulf. Bahrain International Airport serves cargo and passenger operations to 74 destinations across six continents, working with 39 airlines.
Cargo connectivity was further strengthened during the year with new and expanded routes, including services to Liege, Nairobi and New York. These links support both regional distribution and long-haul cargo flows, offering exporters and logistics providers wider market access.
BAC said Bahrain International Airport remains focused on supporting trade growth by improving cargo processes and infrastructure. With volumes reaching an all-time high in 2025, the airport is reinforcing its role as a reliable air cargo gateway, connecting Bahrain to major markets across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.
