In an interview with CargoTalk Middle East, Hamdi Osman, CEO of SolitAir Holding, said Africa remains a key focus market, driven by growing trade activity, expanding economies and increasing demand for air cargo services across the continent.
Osman said Africa's cargo market remains fragmented, with only a limited number of operators serving several markets. He noted that there is significant opportunity to strengthen cargo connectivity between the UAE and African countries, adding that cargo will play a major role in supporting trade flows.
According to Osman, trade between China, Africa, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent continues to create opportunities for the air cargo sector. He noted that cargo moving from China into Africa through the Middle East, along with exports of raw materials from Africa to Asia, is contributing to growing trade activity across these markets.
He added that e-commerce remains the largest cargo segment, followed by pharmaceuticals and dangerous goods. The UAE, he said, continues to serve as an important gateway linking Africa with other major markets across the Global South.
