Bahrain Airport expands cargo biz with Express Cargo Village

Bahrain International Airport (BAH) is ramping up its cargo operations as part of an ambitious strategy to expand its global reach and strengthen its position as a key aviation and logistics hub in the Gulf region. With plans to increase its destination network to 100 cities over the next four to five years, BAH invests heavily in infrastructure to support cargo growth. Cargo operations have been a vital part of the airport’s expansion with the rapid progress of the Express Cargo Village. The first phase, covering 12,500 m², is already operational and houses global logistics giant FedEx. Further expansions are in the pipeline to accommodate additional major cargo operators, positioning BAH as a critical player in regional and international supply chains.

Bahrain Airport Company CEO Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said, “We are more aligned as stakeholders than ever before. Our national air connectivity plan aims to reach 100 destinations, and this plan is being executed over four to five years. We are targeting major markets in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and we believe that our coordinated efforts will lead to much better performance in both air traffic movements and passenger traffic. We are preparing to meet with airlines that have the potential to establish routes to Bahrain, backed by solid business cases and analysis.”

As BAH continues to strengthen partnerships with airlines and logistics companies, the airport aims to offer world-class cargo services, meeting the growing demand for efficient air freight in the region.
