Bahrain, Pakistan target $1bn trade as logistics links grow

Bahrain and Pakistan are targeting $1 billion in bilateral trade, up from about $550 million currently, with food products and aluminium among the main goods traded between the two countries. Pakistan is a major supplier of meat, grains, vegetables and fresh fruit to Bahrain, while Bahrain supplies aluminium products.
Pakistani Ambassador Saqib Rauf said the two countries are looking to expand trade by developing new areas of cooperation, strengthening business links and encouraging investment.
The trade target could create more demand for freight, cargo handling and other logistics services between the two markets. Stronger air links may also support faster movement of time-sensitive goods, particularly food products.
More than 20 direct flights operate between Bahrain and Pakistan each week through Gulf Air, Pakistan International Airlines and Fly Jinnah. The services support cargo movement as well as business and passenger travel.
Pakistan is also seeking Bahraini investment in areas including food security and aviation, which could open further opportunities for logistics and supply chain businesses.
