DB Schenker, MCL partner to cut emissions for logistics

DB Schenker is collaborating with Microsoft Cloud Logistics (MCL) for the use of SAF and Sustainable Marine Fuel (SMF), demonstrating its collective commitment to reduce emissions of their logistics operations. The collaboration also includes development of logistics warehouses and implementation of alternative energy trucks. DB Schenker will procure SAF and SMF and allocate it to the MCLs’ inbound air and ocean shipments; this partnership will lead to a reduction of at least 15.000t of CO2e-emissions per year. “MCL and DB Schenker’s cooperation is expected to demonstrate that significant CO2e-savings are feasible in today’s intercontinental supply chains,” Jochen Thewes, CEO, DB Schenker, said. “MCL is committed to leading the way in sustainable logistics. Our collaboration with DB Schenker has enabled the development of cutting-edge sustainable warehouses along with innovative fuel strategies across all modes of freight,” Cliff Henson, CVP, MCL, said.
