Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and autonomous vehicle technology company Oxa have launched the Autonomous Logistics Future Lab in Dubai through their joint venture SHIFFT. The initiative will focus on developing and testing autonomous logistics solutions, with the first phase targeting vehicle operations at ports and airports.
The lab will support the development of technologies that can automate logistics processes, improve operational efficiency and help companies manage industrial transport activities. The partners aim to begin the first commercial deployment of autonomous logistics solutions in Dubai before the end of 2027.
Khalifa Al Qama, Chief of Dubai's RDI Ecosystem, overseen by Dubai Future Foundation, said, "Through this Lab, we aim to develop new intelligent logistics solutions that create economic opportunities while accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies and their practical applications. The initiative reflects Dubai's commitment to strengthening its position as a global hub for the future of logistics services by transforming promising technologies into real-world solutions that deliver tangible economic and operational impact."
Under the Dubai Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Ecosystem, SHIFFT will combine autonomous driving technology, fleet management systems and operational data tools to develop solutions for industrial environments.
The platform will allow autonomous vehicles and existing industrial equipment to work together, supporting applications across logistics facilities. The initiative is also aligned with Dubai’s plan to expand trade and strengthen its role as a logistics and technology hub.
The first phase will focus on autonomous vehicle solutions for airport and port operations, where automation can support cargo movement, improve safety and increase efficiency in time-sensitive logistics activities.
