Egypt approves 652-acre Salloum logistics zone

Egypt has approved a 652-acre logistics zone beside the Salloum land port and a dry port project in Sadat City to strengthen cargo handling and links between ports and inland transport networks.
The Salloum zone will be developed and operated under a 30-year licence. Its location near the Libyan border could support cross-border freight movement and trade between Egypt and Libya.
The cabinet has also approved the establishment of the Sadat Dry and Land Port Company to build, operate and maintain a dry port in Sadat City, Menoufia governorate.
The Sadat project aims to connect land, dry and sea ports with road and other transport networks, allowing cargo to move more easily between ports and inland destinations. Dry ports can also support the handling and distribution of goods closer to industrial and commercial centres, easing pressure on seaports and improving access to freight services.
The project could involve private sector partners, although construction timelines and costs have not been announced.
The planned facility aims to provide multimodal transport and logistics services, linking different transport modes to support cargo movement.
Together, the projects could strengthen Egypt’s logistics network and improve the movement of goods through border crossings, ports and inland trade centres.
