Gypto, Bacha to bring Egyptian pharma to MEA

Gypto Pharma City and Djibouti-based Bacha Group have signed an MoU to strengthen pharmaceutical logistics links between Egypt, the Middle East and East Africa. The partnership will support the movement of Egyptian medicines to regional markets by using Djibouti’s logistics infrastructure as a gateway for distribution.

The agreement will focus on improving pharmaceutical supply chains, supporting product registration and expanding the availability of Egyptian-made medicines across Djibouti and other East African countries. It will also explore opportunities to develop local pharmaceutical activities by leveraging Bacha Group’s logistics and industrial facilities in Djibouti.

The partnership comes as countries across the Middle East and Africa look to build more resilient healthcare supply chains. By connecting Egypt’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities with Djibouti’s strategic location along key trade routes, the initiative aims to improve access to medicines and strengthen regional distribution networks.

“The partnership will help create stronger supply chain links for Egyptian pharmaceutical products while supporting healthcare cooperation with African markets,” said Amr Mamdouh, Chairperson and Managing Director of Gypto Pharma City.

The two sides will also explore ways to gradually localise parts of the pharmaceutical manufacturing process in Djibouti, supporting a more integrated regional pharma ecosystem. The initiative is expected to enhance cross-border pharmaceutical trade and improve access to medicines across East Africa.
