Egypt and Indonesia aim to raise bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030, with plans to expand exports, remove trade barriers and strengthen supply chain links between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

The two countries will focus on joint manufacturing and investment to increase the flow of goods between their markets. Egypt also aims to expand its role as an export hub serving the Middle East, Africa and other international markets.

Cooperation is expected to cover logistics, infrastructure, energy and agribusiness. Stronger links in these sectors could improve cargo movement, support cross-border trade and create opportunities for freight and supply chain companies.

For logistics providers, higher trade volumes could increase demand for shipping, cargo handling, warehousing and transport services. Improved market access could also help exporters reach new customers and diversify trade routes between Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said both countries had agreed to prioritise trade growth and remove obstacles to achieving the $5 billion target.

The plan is part of efforts to expand economic cooperation and increase investment, with both countries seeking to strengthen their access to international markets.
