Emirates SkyCargo, working with the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at UAE University, has successfully transported Arab Satellite 813 from Al Ain to Shanghai, China. The satellite, designed to monitor Earth, climate, and the environment, was carefully moved from NSSTC’s facility to Dubai World Central before being flown on a Boeing 777 freighter. The operation involved strict environmental controls, high security, and precise coordination across multiple stakeholders.
The transport highlights the UAE’s growing capabilities in both space and logistics. The satellite’s safe delivery required a bespoke, multi-modal solution, reflecting the company’s expertise in handling high-value, technical cargo, said Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President, Emirates SkyCargo.
Arab Satellite 813 is part of the UAE’s broader initiative, under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to enhance Arab cooperation in space and involve regional scientists in cutting-edge research. Ali Al Shehhi, Director of NSSTC, described the satellite as a milestone in Arab space collaboration and a step toward training national talent for the future of space technologies.
