Emirates SkyCargo has added Liege in Belgium to its freighter network, launching five scheduled cargo flights a week and making it the airline’s first new freighter destination in 2026. The move adds around 500 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity and strengthens connections between Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia, supporting the movement of pharmaceuticals, e-commerce and other time-sensitive goods.
Liege is one of Europe’s fastest-growing cargo hubs and sits close to major manufacturing and consumption centres across Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Strong road links make it easier to move goods quickly across borders, which is why the airport has become a key point for regional distribution and re-exports.
Three of the weekly freighter flights will connect Liege with Dubai and Chicago, focusing mainly on temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments that require a reliable cold chain. The remaining two flights will operate between Hong Kong and Liege, carrying growing volumes of e-commerce cargo into Europe.
Commenting on the expansion, Khawla Abdulla, Vice President of Cargo Commercial for Europe at Emirates SkyCargo, said the addition of Liege strengthens the airline’s European footprint and improves connectivity for global customers. The airline expects demand to grow as companies look for stable, well-connected logistics hubs to support changing supply chains.
