Emirates SkyCargo has transported more than 170,000 tonnes of exports and imports between Cairo and global markets over the past five years, supporting trade in fresh produce, seafood, pharmaceuticals and electronics.

The cargo was carried in the belly hold of passenger flights, linking Egyptian exporters with markets across the Middle East, Europe and East Asia through the airline’s Dubai hub.

Fresh fruit and vegetables, including grapes, guavas, mangoes and strawberries, are among Egypt’s key exports carried by the airline. Strawberry shipments are particularly active between November and March. Imports into Egypt include electronics, pharmaceuticals and general cargo.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are proud of the role Emirates has played in connecting Egypt with the UAE and global markets, and in supporting inbound travel, tourism and trade.”

The figures coincide with Emirates marking 40 years of operations in Egypt. The airline began flights to Cairo in April 1986 and now operates five daily services between Cairo and Dubai using Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

Over four decades, Emirates has carried more than 13.2 million passengers on nearly 50,000 flights between the two cities. The passenger services also provide cargo capacity for Egyptian goods moving to international markets.
