Etihad Cargo has launched four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Calgary, expanding its Canadian network and improving cargo links between North America, the Middle East and Asia.

Joseph Schow, Minister of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration said: “The arrival of Etihad Airways in Calgary is another sign of Alberta’s growing connections around the world. Our recent trade missions are translating into commercial momentum, reflecting confidence in our market and recognition of the value our province offers. This new direct route to Abu Dhabi will help connect Alberta businesses with new markets and opportunities across the Gulf region and beyond, while supporting stronger trade.”

The service, which began on 25 October, gives businesses in Alberta more access to international markets through Abu Dhabi. It also provides cargo customers with additional capacity and flexibility for moving goods across the carrier’s global network.

Calgary is a key centre for Canada’s energy, agriculture and food industries. The new route creates more options for transporting goods from these sectors to markets in the Middle East and Asia, as well as other regions.

The Calgary flights complement Etihad’s daily passenger service to Toronto, adding another point of access to the Canadian market. The expansion also strengthens Abu Dhabi’s role as a link between Canadian businesses and global trade routes.

Etihad Cargo said the new service would improve access to its international network through Abu Dhabi, giving customers more options to move cargo between Canada and key markets worldwide.
