Etihad Cargo has received approval to transport Thermosafe’s Pegasus ULD, a temperature-controlled container designed for sensitive pharmaceutical and biotech shipments. The move strengthens the airline’s capacity to safely move time- and temperature-sensitive products around the world.

Bourji Mourad, Director of Global Leasing & Market Development at ThermoSafe, said the collaboration ensures safe and efficient transport for sensitive products worldwide. With this approval, Etihad Cargo expands its range of trusted cold chain solutions, reinforcing its role as a major player in the global life sciences logistics sector.

The Pegasus ULD is the first advanced passive aircraft temperature-controlled container approved by both the FAA and EASA. Classified as aircraft equipment, it integrates directly with the aircraft cargo loading system. This allows for reliable thermal performance of over 300 hours, helping protect high-value shipments such as vaccines, biologics, and other critical life sciences products.

The container also provides real-time telemetry, giving operators access to temperature, location, and other environmental data throughout the journey. Built with durable composite materials, the Pegasus ULD is designed to resist damage while supporting more sustainable cargo operations.
