Etihad Cargo will add 84 leg tonnes of weekly cargo capacity in each direction between Abu Dhabi and Sydney from 15 December 2026, taking total capacity on the route to around 170 leg tonnes per week in each direction.

The additional capacity will give freight customers more space to move goods between Australia and Abu Dhabi, with onward connections to markets across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Indian subcontinent. The expanded schedule will also give shippers more options for planning shipments and routing cargo through Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub.

The increase will support cargo flows between Australia and key international markets, with additional capacity helping freight forwarders manage shipment volumes and schedules. The route’s expanded capacity also strengthens Abu Dhabi’s role as a hub for cargo moving between Australia and markets across Etihad’s network.

Arik De, Etihad Airways’ Chief Revenue & Commercial Officer, said: “The additional service strengthens connectivity through Abu Dhabi, creating more seamless access to destinations across the Middle East and Europe.”
