Finnair handles 2,731 tonnes of Middle East cargo

According to data from Finnair, the airline handled 2,731.3 tonnes of cargo linked to the Middle East in the first nine months of 2026, while total cargo volumes increased 6.8% year on year to 109,295.8 tonnes. In September alone, Finnair handled 12,275.3 tonnes of cargo, up 4.5% from the same month last year.
The Middle East accounted for a share of Finnair’s cargo activity during the January-September period, alongside its larger Europe and Asia markets. The airline’s September figures showed cargo growth across all active traffic areas, with revenue cargo tonne kilometres increasing 5.4%.
North Atlantic cargo recorded the strongest September growth, rising 55.8% to 1,451.6 tonnes. Europe increased 10.2% to 2,934.3 tonnes, while Asia grew 6% to 7,866.3 tonnes.
The broader increase in cargo volumes points to continued demand for air freight capacity across Finnair’s network. Stronger flows across Europe, Asia and the North Atlantic support connections between major production, trading and consumer markets.
Finnair’s Middle East cargo figures form part of its wider network performance, as the airline continues to track freight activity across key international markets. Revenue cargo tonne kilometres for the first nine months increased 6.4% year on year.
