The global air freight rates have once again surged for the week ended on 26 August, as per the recent data released by TAC Index. The Baltic Air Freight Index rose to 3.3 per cent, which resulted in a year-on-year increase of 16.6 per cent in the growth of global air freight rates. The latest numbers confirm the firm tone of the market over the summer, when prices usually dip ahead of peak season, has continued. Sources are divided about whether peak season arrived early or whether there is a further surge to come due to limited capacity.
