HFZA, Amazon UAE, sign agreement for logistics centre

Amazon UAE has signed an agreement with Sharjah’s Hamriyah Freezone Authority (HFZA) to lease a new logistics centre. Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President, Amazon MENA, said, “As we continue to grow our footprint in the country, we are excited to partner with HFZA to support the country’s vision for a digitalized and diversified economy.” The new facility would have a daily production capacity of 10,000 barrels and an annual refining capability of up to 3.6 million barrels. Sheikh Khaled bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman, HFZA, said, “The new centre will enhance delivery services for customers in the Northern Emirates. This is in line with the HFZA’s vision to boost the logistics sector and bolster economic growth in the region.” At present, the free zone houses over 1,200 companies, including major international corporations specializing in the oil and energy sector.
