The Middle East cargo demand witnessed a 3.2 per cent year-on-year decline for June, informed Willie Walsh, Director-General, IATA. While capacity in the region grew by 1.5 per cent, overall load factors slipped to 45.2 per cent, as per IATA’s latest global air freight data. The Middle East-Europe trade lane continued its downward trend, recording a 4.5 per cent drop in volumes, marking six consecutive months of decline. “Disruptions because of the military conflict in the Middle East saw the region’s cargo traffic fall by 3.2 per cent,” he added.
