Middle East-Europe trade lane rise by 32.2% YoY: IATA



Middle East-Europe trade lane showing the most impressive demand growth globally. Middle East-Europe trade lane grew to 32.2 per cent year-on-year, which is the highest growth for any region in the world. IATA recently released the global air cargo growth data for the month of July 2024. It was followed by Europe-Asia route which saw an increase of 17.9 per cent growth, and Middle East-Asia Lane, which surged to 15.9 per cent demand growth in air cargo. Overall, the demand growth for air cargo in Middle East grew to 13.7 per cent YoY in July 2024, with July capacity increasing to 7.6 per cent year-on-year. “Air cargo demand hit record highs year-to-date in July with strong growth across all regions. The air cargo business continues to benefit from growth in global trade, booming e-commerce, and capacity constraints on maritime shipping. With the peak season still to come, it is shaping to be a very strong year for air cargo,” Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA, said.
