Oman, Sri Lanka boost trade connectivity

Oman and Sri Lanka are strengthening cooperation in trade, logistics and investment as both countries look to improve the movement of goods and expand commercial ties. Stronger economic engagement could support supply chain connectivity, increase cargo flows and create new opportunities for businesses involved in shipping, freight forwarding and logistics services.

Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, Oman said Oman remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Sri Lanka and exploring new areas of partnership that support shared interests.

Better trade links between the two countries could improve access to markets across the Middle East and South Asia. For the logistics sector, closer cooperation may help facilitate smoother cargo movement, encourage greater use of maritime routes and support businesses that rely on cross-border trade.

The focus on expanding economic ties comes as regional trade continues to grow, increasing the need for stronger transport networks and more efficient supply chains. Improved cooperation could also encourage investment in trade-related industries and strengthen commercial links between businesses in both countries.
