QAIA handles 7,594 tonnes of cargo in July

Queen Alia International Airport handled 7,594 tonnes of cargo in July 2026, up 16% from June, while volumes were almost unchanged year-on-year, with a 0.2% decline from July 2025. The rise came as overall airport activity strengthened during the summer period.
The monthly increase points to higher demand for air cargo capacity through Jordan, supporting the movement of goods through the country during a busier travel season. For freight operators and forwarders, the increase could provide more opportunities to move time-sensitive and high-value goods through Amman.
Nicolas Deviller, Chief Executive Officer of Airport International Group, said, “July’s performance demonstrates the importance of connectivity to Jordan’s trade and wider economy. Our priority is to build on this momentum by ensuring that the airport remains equipped to respond to changing demand.”
The airport also recorded 7,403 aircraft movements in July, up 21.1% from June but 2.5% lower than the same month last year. The rise in movements, alongside higher cargo volumes, shows stronger activity at the airport compared with the previous month.
The figures also highlight the role of QAIA in supporting Jordan’s trade flows, particularly as demand changes through the year. Maintaining cargo capacity and efficient aircraft operations will be important for handling future fluctuations in freight demand. Airport International Group, which operates QAIA, said the July figures reflected a strengthening in activity after fluctuations earlier in the year.
