SAL Logistics Services has signed two Memoranda of Understanding with CIMC’s Middle East and North Africa Regional Headquarters to explore logistics infrastructure, technology and investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia. The agreements, signed through SAL Logistics and its subsidiary SAL Zones, also cover opportunities to attract Chinese companies and investments to the Kingdom.

The MoU with SAL Logistics covers cargo handling systems, automation, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and handling and transport equipment. The two sides will also explore establishing a logistics hub for CIMC Group and its subsidiaries, supporting assembly, manufacturing and distribution activities in Saudi Arabia.

The second MoU, with SAL Zones, focuses on developing facilities and warehouses within the SAL Logistics Zone in Riyadh. It also covers attracting Chinese companies to use the zone’s infrastructure and services, along with identifying investment opportunities and joint projects.

The agreements could support greater use of automation and advanced logistics equipment while adding infrastructure for manufacturing, distribution and cargo operations. They also provide a framework for closer logistics and trade links between Saudi Arabia and China, in line with Saudi Arabia’s logistics development plans.
