SAR transports over 14 mn tonnes of cargo in H1 2025

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) transported 14.93 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2025, marking a 13 per cent year-on-year increase. The shift from road to rail eliminated more than 700,000 truck trips, saving more than 72 million litres of fuel and reducing carbon emissions by 190,000 tonnes. These gains align with Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Green Initiative, reinforcing SAR’s growing role in enhancing freight efficiency and sustainability.
