SCZONE and China Development Bank discusses logistics infrastructure

Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and China Development Bank (CDB) are exploring cooperation on infrastructure, utilities and investment projects to strengthen industrial and logistics development within the zone. During a meeting with a CDB delegation led by President Huang Zhiqiang, SCZONE Chairman Moustafa Shaikhon highlighted the integration of industrial zones and ports as a key advantage in developing logistics activities and supporting international trade.
The authority is targeting 21 industrial and logistics sectors, including renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, textiles, logistics and seaport services. Its strategic location and international trade agreements provide investors with access to markets covering approximately 3.5 billion consumers. CDB expressed interest in promoting SCZONE projects among Chinese businesses, with potential cooperation extending beyond financing to technical consultancy and economic studies. The discussions aim to strengthen infrastructure capacity, attract investment and expand logistics activities connecting regional and international markets.
