The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has signed two pacts with an Egyptian-Turkish group to establish bonded container yards in Qantara West and Sokhna, said Waleid Gamal El-Din, Chairperson, SCZONE. The US$ 4.2 million projects—launched under the SIGMA EGYPT initiative — will cover 100,000 sqm and provide storage, handling and value-added container repair services. The consortium includes the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation, United Egy Group, Turkey’s Sigma Logistics and Containers and Logitrade. Each yard will span 50,000 sqm with investments likely to create 100 direct jobs.
