Sharjah targets trade growth with Ethiopia

Sharjah and Ethiopia are set to strengthen trade and logistics cooperation, with a focus on expanding the movement of goods and improving market access for UAE-made products in African markets. The initiative by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry targets sectors including agriculture, food processing, packaging, manufacturing and logistics.
Stronger commercial links between the two markets are expected to support cargo flows between the UAE and East Africa, creating opportunities for freight forwarders, transport operators and warehousing providers. Growth in agricultural and manufactured goods trade will also increase the importance of reliable transport, storage and distribution networks.
The initiative aims to help businesses in both markets build trade partnerships and explore investment opportunities, supporting cross-border supply chains and access to new customers.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, chairman of the Sharjah Chamber, said: “Through this mission, we look forward to strengthening cooperation between the business communities in Sharjah and Ethiopia and opening new channels for trade and investment exchange.”
