UAE, EU deepen aid logistics cooperation

The UAE and the European Union are looking to strengthen global humanitarian supply chains by improving coordination, logistics systems, and information sharing to speed up delivery of aid like food, medicine, and other essential supplies. The focus is on building more connected systems that help humanitarian agencies work together more efficiently across regions.

The plan includes expanding shared humanitarian hubs and improving transport and storage networks so relief items can move more smoothly between countries. This is expected to help reduce delays and improve the flow of assistance to people in need.

Guiseppe Saba, CEO of Dubai Humanitarian, said: “This dialogue with our European counterparts reinforces the shared responsibility we carry to protect humanitarian supply chains.”

A key part of the approach is better coordination between organisations through shared planning tools and linked systems. This is meant to help different agencies align their work and avoid duplication in operations.

The approach also includes using digital tools and standard procedures to make operations more efficient and predictable. Experts involved said that stronger coordination can help create a more reliable system for delivering humanitarian aid, especially when multiple organisations are working in different regions at the same time
