Al Buraimi Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman is expanding its role as a cross-border cargo hub, supported by upgraded road links, faster customs processes, and growing industrial activity. The governorate’s strategic location near Oman’s borders and Gulf markets is helping facilitate the movement of goods, while new investments are strengthening its logistics and distribution capabilities.

The Bayan electronic customs system at border points has streamlined clearance procedures, helping reduce processing times for commercial shipments and improve cargo flow. These developments are supporting transit trade, re-export operations, and supply chain activities connecting Oman with regional markets.

Said Abdullah Al Balushi, Director General of Al Buraimi Industrial City, said investments at the industrial city have exceeded RO 280 million, with more than 370 projects across industrial, commercial, and service sectors.

With road networks connecting key border crossings and access to ports and airports, Al Buraimi is emerging as an important logistics gateway for manufacturers, exporters, and freight operators. The governorate’s expanding industrial base is expected to generate more cargo demand and support smoother movement of goods across Oman and the wider Gulf region.
