Biofuel switch for UK fleet cuts dnata’s CO2 emissions

dnata continues to take initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint throughout the world. In the UK, dnata’s heavy goods vehicles fleet of 70 trucks at London Heathrow Airport has switched to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil, a fossil-free alternative to regular diesel. This move is projected to slash carbon footprint of dnata’s HGV’s fleet by 77 per cent, cutting CO2e emissions by 2,400 tonnes annually. The initiative is part of the dnata Group’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by 50 per cent by 2030 in line with its eight-year strategy. “We are committed to implementing initiatives to maximise environmental efficiency. The introduction of biofuel into our UK operations is another step in our ongoing journey to reduce our CO2 footprint. “We will continue to invest in infrastructure and equipment to contribute to dnata’s global sustainability targets,” Alex Doisneau, MD, dnata UK, said. dnata’s new, advanced cargo centres in Manchester (dnata City North) and London (dnata City East) incorporate the latest carbon reduction initiatives in design and operation, including the use of solar PV panels, air-source heat pumps and EV charging. Besides the UK, dnata currently utilises biofuel in Australia, The Netherlands and the UAE.
