DP World’s operations at Batangas Integrated Port are powering job creation and trade growth, with new research underscoring strong parallels to infrastructure-led development strategies seen across the Middle East. The study by Oxford Economics found the port supports more than 2,300 jobs nationwide, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for inclusive economic expansion in the Philippines.

Operated in partnership with Asian Terminals Inc., the facility drives employment across logistics, manufacturing, transport, and services, while directly employing over 800 workers. Its wider ecosystem is also boosting SMEs and local entrepreneurs, mirroring port-led growth models implemented in Gulf markets. In 2024, operations generated nearly $28 million in economic activity, with high productivity levels significantly exceeding regional averages. The port’s expanding connectivity is also expected to increase exports and unlock up to $1 billion in additional GDP by 2035. Glen Hilton, CEO & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, DP World, said: “What we’re seeing in Batangas is the DP World Effect in action. Every investment in infrastructure creates opportunities that extend beyond the port. From jobs and small businesses to stronger global connections, the impact reaches deep into local communities. Together with Asian Terminals Inc., we are committed to ensuring the benefits of trade are shared more widely across the Philippines.” The findings highlight how DP World’s global network continues to replicate its Middle East success in enabling trade-driven growth worldwide.
