Emirates has launched a third daily flight between Dubai and Nairobi, increasing cargo capacity on the route by 280 tonnes per week. The new service, which began on 1 July, raises the airline's operations between the two cities to 21 weekly flights and provides additional capacity for freight, particularly Kenya's fresh flowers and produce exports.
The added cargo space is expected to strengthen trade between the UAE and Kenya by enabling exporters to move more time-sensitive shipments through Dubai. As a major global cargo hub, Dubai offers onward connections to international markets, helping improve supply chain efficiency and reduce transit times for perishable goods.
Christophe Leloup, Emirates' Country Manager for Kenya, said, “More than adding capacity, this flight creates better connections across Europe, North America and beyond.”
The additional flight also improves cargo connectivity to Europe through same-day onward connections from Dubai. The increased frequency gives exporters more flexibility in planning shipments and supports growing demand for air freight services on the route.
Emirates has operated flights to Nairobi since 1995 and continues to expand its cargo network in Africa. The airline said the latest service reflects growing trade demand between Kenya and international markets.
Kenya's aviation and tourism authorities welcomed the additional service, noting that it will support the country's export sector. They also highlighted ongoing upgrades at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, which are expected to improve cargo handling capacity and operational efficiency.
