Etihad Airways has launched cargo services to Dhaka with the start of its four-times-weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and the Bangladeshi capital. Operated by a Boeing 777 aircraft, the new route adds widebody belly-hold cargo capacity, strengthening air freight links between the UAE and Bangladesh and supporting trade across the South Asia corridor.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said, “The UAE is home to one of the largest Bangladeshi communities in the world, and this service is a direct link for the families who call both countries home, as well as a gateway for the Bangladeshi diaspora across the GCC, North America and the UK travelling via Abu Dhabi.”
The additional cargo capacity is expected to improve the movement of goods between the two countries, particularly for Bangladesh's export-driven garment and textile industry. Exporters will gain more access to markets in the Middle East, Europe and North America through Abu Dhabi, helping move time-sensitive shipments more efficiently and supporting regional supply chains.
The Boeing 777 deployed on the route offers significant belly-hold space for freight alongside passenger services. The new capacity comes as demand for cargo connectivity between the UAE and Bangladesh continues to grow, driven by trade in textiles, garments and other manufactured goods.
The Dhaka service also strengthens Abu Dhabi's role as a cargo gateway linking South Asia with global markets. By adding more freight capacity on an important trade lane, the route provides shippers and freight forwarders with additional options and supports the growing flow of goods between Bangladesh and Etihad's wider international network.
