FedEx secures 30 IATA pharma certifications

Further strengthening its operations, FedEx has secured 30 IATA CEIV Pharma certifications across its global air hubs and cargo handling facilities, thus boosting its ability to handle time- and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments across its network, including connections serving the Middle East. The milestone supports the movement of healthcare products through global trade lanes linking major markets in the region and beyond.

The certifications cover facilities involved in the handling and movement of pharmaceutical cargo and recognise their compliance with industry standards for quality and temperature-controlled logistics. The milestone gives FedEx one of the larger global networks of air cargo facilities certified under the IATA CEIV Pharma programme.

The certification comes as pharmaceutical supply chains increasingly depend on reliable air cargo services to move medicines and other healthcare products within required temperature ranges. For logistics providers, certified handling facilities can support more consistent processes across key points in the cargo journey and help meet the strict requirements of pharmaceutical shipments.

IATA global head of cargo Brendan Sullivan said pharmaceutical companies rely on air transport to move time-sensitive and temperature-controlled medicines and therapies to healthcare providers and patients.
