First autonomous drone delivery pilot in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has taken a step in smart logistics by launching the first autonomous drone parcel delivery pilot, said Tariq Al Wahedi, Group CEO, 7X. The trial, held in Khalifa City, saw a drone deliver a simulated package from a post office to a secure drop zone, using a winch-based system. The initiative is supported by Abu Dhabi Investment Office, LODD, and 7X overseeing EMX logistics. It forms part of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council’s strategy to adopt advanced mobility solutions, supported by the General Civil Aviation Authority and the Integrated Transport Centre. The project is the first phase in a broader plan to expand drone-based logistics services across Abu Dhabi, aligning with the emirate’s ambitions to lead autonomous air mobility in the region.
