Hendrick Logistics has completed a direct temperature-controlled road freight shipment from Ireland to Dubai under the TIR Carnet system, covering more than 8,000km across 15 countries.

The development highlights a growing alternative for trade between Europe and the GCC. Direct road freight can reduce the need for cargo transfers, lowering handling risks and helping protect sensitive products during transit. It also provides shippers with another transport option between air freight, which is faster but more expensive, and sea freight, which is cheaper but takes longer.

“This achievement showcases the capability of direct Europe-to-GCC road freight and the opportunities it creates for businesses seeking reliable and secure transportation solutions,” said Vijay Ajerla, managing director UAE at Hendrick Logistics.

The movement also demonstrates the use of the TIR Carnet system for long-distance cross-border transport. The system allows goods to move through multiple countries with simplified customs procedures, reducing delays at border crossings.

On the outset, such road freight corridors could support sectors including food, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive supply chains as trade between Europe and the Gulf region continues to grow. The shipment was completed using one truck and one driver. The cargo was not unloaded or transferred during the journey, helping maintain product quality and cold-chain conditions.
