Iraq is set to build a large logistics station in the southern Muthanna governorate, with an estimated cost of $67 million. The “Hano Station” will cover 200 dunams (500,000 sqmt) on both sides of the international highway in the Uruk district and is expected to create at least 500 jobs.
The hub is designed to support trucks, commercial vehicles, and travellers while positioning Muthanna as a key logistics link in Middle East trade routes. It will serve as a central stop for goods moving within Iraq and across the region, improving connectivity with neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.
The facility will include modern fuel stations, maintenance centres, and organised parking with smart management systems. It will also have inspection and weighing zones, cargo warehouses, and an international hotel, enabling smooth operations for long-haul trucks. Integrated government services, such as traffic police, national security units, and emergency ambulance services, will ensure safety and efficient flow of vehicles.
By combining cargo handling, vehicle services, and accommodation in one location, Hano Station will strengthen supply chains across the Middle East. It aims to support regional trade, facilitate cross-border logistics, and boost the efficiency of transport networks in southern Iraq and beyond.
