Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has launched a pilot project using autonomous delivery vehicles to support e-commerce logistics, aiming to make supply chains faster, safer, and more sustainable. The initiative integrates AutoGo’s self-driving vehicles into the logistics network of “noon”, one of the region’s leading e-commerce platforms, to supply mini-fulfilment centres across the city efficiently.
Faraz Khalid, CEO of noon, said, “Noon aims to redefine the future of e-commerce through innovation, and our partnership with the ITC and AutoGo is an important step towards developing autonomous delivery solutions that improve the efficiency and sustainability of logistics services.”
Equipped with AI and advanced sensors, the vehicles can navigate urban streets without human drivers, reducing congestion and carbon emissions while enhancing delivery speed and reliability. The project is part of ITC’s broader smart mobility strategy, which targets completing 25 per cent of all trips in Abu Dhabi through smart transport by 2040.
Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director-General of ITC, said, “The pilot project underlines ITC’s role in enabling innovative technologies within a safe and reliable regulatory framework that advances sustainability and improves quality of life across the community.”
Following this milestone, the pilot will expand to more neighbourhoods and product ranges, with plans for broader commercial operations soon, signalling a major step forward in Abu Dhabi’s logistics and smart mobility ecosystem.
