Jordan’s land freight traffic increased 23.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, with total freight volume reaching 9.44 million tonnes, compared with 7.64 million tonnes during the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Transport, Jordan.
The growth was supported by higher import and export activity, with exports recording a stronger increase during the January–March period. Export volumes rose 35.5 per cent to 4.55 million tonnes, up from 3.36 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2025. Imports increased 14.2 per cent to 4.89 million tonnes, compared with 4.28 million tonnes a year earlier.
The rise in freight movement reflects stronger trade activity through Jordan’s land border crossings and increased use of road transport for cargo movement. Truck traffic also grew during the period, with 318,537 trucks entering and leaving the Kingdom, an 11.9 per cent increase from 284,575 trucks in the same period last year.
