Oman Air Cargo is expanding its network with a new route connecting Muscat and Kigali, strengthening cargo links between East Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The new service is scheduled to begin in June 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

“We are seeing sustained growth in demand between the Middle East and Africa, particularly for perishables and specialist cargo, and this new route allows us to respond with additional capacity and reach,” said Michael Duggan, Head of Cargo, Oman Air.

The Muscat–Kigali route will be operated using Boeing 737 passenger flights and will provide additional cargo capacity for time-sensitive and perishable goods. This marks Oman Air Cargo’s entry into Rwanda and adds East Africa to its growing network.

The airline expects the route to support shipments of fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables and flowers, along with pharmaceuticals, express cargo and general freight from the region. East African exporters will be able to move goods through Muscat to markets across the Middle East, Europe and the Indian subcontinent.

The new service comes as demand continues to grow between Africa and the Middle East, particularly for perishables that require reliable and faster transport. Kigali’s location also offers access to surrounding African markets, increasing trade opportunities.

Cargo arriving in Muscat will connect to Oman Air Cargo’s wider network, reinforcing the airport’s role as a transit hub. The Kigali launch follows recent route additions across Asia, Europe and the Middle East as the airline steadily expands its global footprint.
