Qatar Airways Cargo has increased cargo capacity across key routes in Africa and the Middle East for May 2026, including Addis Ababa, Tunis, Amman, Beirut, Baghdad, Basra and Dammam. The changes include higher weekly capacity and the return of freighter operations on selected routes.
In the Middle East, Amman capacity rises to 14 weekly flights with an additional freighter service, while Beirut also increases to 14 weekly flights with freighter support. Baghdad and Basra services have been relaunched, adding new cargo space to these markets. Dammam sees an increase to 21 weekly flights, raising total weekly capacity to 351+ tonnes each way.
In Africa, Addis Ababa services are upgraded, while Tunis increases to 10 weekly flights, improving cargo movement between North and East Africa and the Gulf.
The added capacity improves availability of space for general cargo, pharmaceuticals, and perishable goods, which depend on steady air connections. It also helps reduce delays during peak demand periods and improves routing flexibility for freight operators.
For the logistics sector, the changes support smoother trade flows between Africa, the Levant, and the Gulf region. More capacity on key lanes helps balance demand, improve shipment planning, and strengthen reliability across regional supply chains.
