The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to double the GDP contribution of its transport and logistics sectors, prioritising the development of air cargo capabilities and expanding rail network by 50% as part of its Vision 2030, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Transport Minister, said at the Global Aviation and Maritime Transport Summit.   A key initiative includes the integrated logistics zone at Jeddah Islamic Port, linked to customs warehouses and air cargo facilities, with plans to connect it by rail to King Abdulaziz International Airport through the upcoming land bridge project. The national digital logistics platform has already reduced customs clearance times by 30 per cent, enhancing nationwide cargo flow. “There are ongoing efforts to develop logistics zones and enhance multimodal integration by linking transport systems with customs and digital infrastructure, improving service efficiency and nationwide coverage,” said Al-Jasser.
