With a 73,000 km road network, one of the largest in the world, Saudi Arabia recorded strong freight movement in the first quarter of 2026. Goods moved steadily through ports, industrial zones and GCC trade routes, showing the scale and efficiency of the country’s logistics system.
This high level of truck activity is helping speed up delivery of goods, keep supply chains stable and improve product availability in key markets. It is also supporting smoother trade by improving the movement of imports and exports across major routes.
The large road network connects cities, ports and industrial areas, allowing goods to move easily over long distances. This is strengthening trade links within the Kingdom and with neighbouring countries.
The Roads General Authority said the result reflects ongoing improvements in road infrastructure and logistics services. Better road quality and smoother traffic flow are helping reduce delays and improve efficiency for transport operators.
It added that work is continuing to improve road safety and efficiency, with plans to raise global road rankings and reduce road deaths to fewer than five per 100,000 people by 2030, supporting a stronger logistics system.
