The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and logistics company Agility have signed a deal to develop a logistics hub and regional distribution centres in Egypt, with investments of up to US$ 35 million. The project will cover about 53,000 square metres and is expected to create around 400 direct jobs.
The hub will include facilities for storage, assembly, re-export, and redistribution of goods. It is designed to improve cargo movement through Egypt, which sits on a key global trade route linking Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The project is expected to support faster supply chains by reducing delays in handling and distribution. It will also help lower logistics costs by centralising operations in one location within the SCZONE.
The project is part of wider efforts to develop logistics infrastructure and attract more investment into industrial zones. Better coordination between agencies is expected to simplify project approvals and improve the business environment for logistics operators.
His Excellency Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Egypt said the project aligns with the state’s ongoing plans to develop infrastructure and services supporting logistics activities within the SCZONE.
Madbouly added that the partnership aims to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce the time and cost of goods movement, and leverage Egypt's strategic location as a primary corridor for global trade.
On the other hand, Agility has already been expanding its presence in Egypt. Earlier, it opened a customs centre in the Sokhna Industrial Zone with investment of $25 million, focusing on improving freight handling and clearance processes. The new hub is expected to further strengthen Egypt’s role as a regional logistics gateway and support growing trade flows through the Suez Canal corridor.
