France and Syria are set to strengthen economic cooperation with plans to develop Syria into a regional centre for trade, logistics and investment. The initiative focuses on improving transport connectivity, supporting supply chains and creating new opportunities for businesses across key sectors.

The cooperation aims to enhance Syria’s role as a link between Europe, the Middle East and the Mediterranean by developing logistics networks and infrastructure. Stronger connectivity could support smoother cargo movement, improve regional trade flows and encourage investment in transport and related industries.

French President Emmanuel Macron said Syria could develop into a regional hub for logistics networks, energy infrastructure and data routes. Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa highlighted the country’s geographic position and the opportunity to build stronger trade corridors.

France and Syria have signed more than 16 agreements covering infrastructure, transport, aviation, energy and investment, supporting broader cooperation in economic development and reconstruction.
