Emirates SkyCargo is expanding its operations in India by deploying two additional weekly freighters, one to Mumbai and one to Ahmedabad, increasing capacity to handle an extra 3,000 tonnes of cargo weekly. The move strengthens trade connections between India and the world, supporting key industries like pharmaceuticals, fresh produce, perishables, electronics, garments, and textiles. The Mumbai freighter will connect Dubai, Singapore, and India, while the Ahmedabad flight will be a direct service, with both starting in March 2026.
Currently, Emirates serves India with three weekly freighters and belly hold cargo on 167 passenger flights to nine cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram. The airline also supports India’s export growth through its vast trucking network, which transported nearly 5,500 tonnes of cargo in 2025 to offline destinations like Coimbatore and Goa, including temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior VP of Emirates SkyCargo, said the new freighters reflect the strength of India’s trade corridors and the growing demand for reliable cargo capacity. With this expansion, Emirates SkyCargo continues to connect Indian businesses to global markets, support bilateral trade under the UAE-India CEPA agreement, and enhance the country’s logistics and export ecosystem.
