AD Ports Group has signed an agreement with Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (Azcon Holding) to explore cooperation in ports, shipping and logistics. The deal comes as the UAE-Azerbaijan CEPA trade agreement has just taken effect. The focus is on developing transport infrastructure, improving cargo movement and building stronger logistics links.
Abdulaziz Zayed AlShamsi, Regional CEO, AD Ports Group, said, “Azerbaijan’s pivotal position bridging East and West offers strong opportunities; we look forward to leveraging our integrated capabilities across ports, maritime, logistics, and digital solutions to enable more efficient, connected, and commercially attractive trade routes.”
The plan looks at upgrading port operations, expanding shipping routes and improving multimodal transport across sea, road and rail. Azerbaijan sits between Asia and Europe, making it an important transit route. Better logistics systems here could shorten delivery times and reduce costs for cargo moving across regions.
Digital solutions are also part of the deal. These include better cargo tracking, data sharing and more efficient customs processes. This can help reduce delays at ports and borders, making supply chains smoother and more predictable.
The agreement supports rising trade between the two countries. As cargo volumes grow, stronger logistics networks will be needed to handle demand. By improving transport links and infrastructure, both sides aim to make trade faster, more reliable and easier for businesses operating across these routes.
