The expansion of regional trade corridors and cross-border freight movements are increasing demand for heavy trucks and higher-capacity commercial vehicles across the GCC, says Marco Torta, Area Manager Middle East, IVECO.

Torta notes that rising vehicle acquisition costs are influencing fleet purchasing decisions, with operators considering pre-owned vehicles alongside new purchases. Longer routes and changing cargo requirements are also shaping fleet specifications. “Expanding Gulf trade corridors and cross-border freight flows are increasing demand for heavy trucks, logistics fleets and higher-capacity vehicles, driving fleet renewal and regional investment,” he says.

Fuel-efficient powertrains, telematics, vehicle reliability and predictive maintenance are helping operators reduce downtime, improve utilisation and manage fuel and repair costs. He expects infrastructure developments, including the GCC Railway, Saudi logistics hubs and port expansions across the UAE and Oman, to stimulate freight demand and fleet growth. IVECO is responding with tailored vehicle specifications and enhanced aftermarket support.
